CANDLE CARE

Set your candle up for success!

  • Before lighting your new candle for the first time, trim your wick to ¼ inch. Once your candle has been lit, it is important to allow the melt pool to reach all of the edges of the vessel (make sure you do this every time!). This will prevent tunneling and extend the life of your candle.

  • If your candle has a larger-sized crystal, it is best practice to carefully remove it during the first burn. This will ensure the wick doesn’t drown. Using tongs or a fork, carefully remove the crystal from the wax and set it aside on some paper towel. The crystal can then be cleaned with warm water and soap and incorporated into your meditation and crystal healing practices. (Click here to see the metaphysical properties of the crystals I commonly use in my candles.)

  • Only burn candles for 3-4 hours at a time. While it may be tempting to enjoy your candle for longer it can be hazardous. Before re-lighting your candle, trim the wick back to ¼ inch.

  • You may notice that the top of your candle becomes rough or pitted in appearance between burns. This is a completely normal occurrence with soy wax when it cools at an inconsistent rate. This will not affect the performance of your candle in any way.

  • Discontinue use of your candle when the wax gets to ½ inch in height. Failure to do so can cause the vessel to shatter and cause a fire.

  • The end is never the end. Once your candle is finished and the vessel has cooled, you can clean it out and use it in many ways around your house.
